LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly Secretariat prevented seven parliamentarians from entering the assembly building on Monday, as they were suspended for not providing details of their assets to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Six of the seven suspended members belong to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), while the seventh belongs to the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q). The PML-N members are Dr Saeed Elahi, Shehzadi Umar Tawana, Muhammad Ikhlaq, Mehr Badshah Khan Qaisarani, Sardar Qaisar Abbas Khan Magsi, and Sakina Shaheen, while the suspended PML-Q MPA is Muhammad Ajmal Khan.
The provincial assembly’s administration provided the names and photos of the suspended members to the security guards deployed at the entrance to ensure that they would not be allowed to attend the assembly session.
